Slipstream Circus is dedicated to delivering experiences and pathways that are relevant and impactful to the diverse people of our region, and we invest in a range of programs with community groups, schools and artists to deliver tangible outcomes. Circus training and Live Performance provides a safe space where we connect to create our strong and inclusive community.

Slipstream encourages aspirations, to dream, believe and create through participation in special programs pitched at supporting Tasmania’s current, emerging and future performers.

As the birthplace of the careers of some of the country’s, if not the world’s, leading circus artists, Slipstream has returned to a model that supports established and emerging artists. As the circus organisation in the North of Tasmania, it is our responsibility to provide a context and home for local artists to develop their practice and to enrich the larger community.

As a not-for-profit organisation, your support makes a real difference to what we can achieve. Your contribution enables Slipstream Circus to continue to grow and provide the best training, pathways and experiences for our students, artists and larger community

What impact your donation can make

$100 will go towards programs delivered in 2022.

$500 covers one term of fees of a participant in one of our specially designed programs for 2022. Our aim is to deliver programs at no cost to participants who have disabilities, are youth at risk or in aged care.

$3000 covers the development period for one artist to be enrolled in a Slipstream Creates program being launched in 2022. This program demonstrates a commitment to an artist in residency program supporting the development of artists, development of New Work and presentation of the work of local independent artists through new and established performance platforms and regular development opportunities.

Each Slipstream Creates support period starts with a welcome morning tea which has Elders, council members and key arts community members attending. At the end of the period if the work is ready for a showing this group will be invited back.

Artists taking part in Slipstream Creates deliver a masterclass workshop for Trainers and local practitioners to ensure professional development for Tasmania. A masterclass workshop is delivered by a key artist for Slipstream Circus students to benefit the young people of the North-West of Tasmania.

There are four levels of support through Slipstream Creates:

Space – (just space or space and outside creatives & actors); New work that has little or no previous development, requiring space and/or outside creatives & actors to further develop the work.

Development – New work that has had some development or been through Slipstream Creates or upon submission is identified as requiring a presentation for further development.

Presentation – New work that has been developed through Slipstream Creates or upon submission is identified as ready for presentation.

Producers – Assisting artists to have work presented in Tasmania and/or access grants or funding otherwise unavailable to independent artists.

Please note: all projects submitted remain the property of the independent artist/group, whether or not they are selected.
